Actually, Time magazine has rightly awarded the 2006 award for person of the year to us, the humble blogger - they have a mirrored cover on the latest edition apparently, so you can look at yourself as the winner. The phenomenon of 2006 has been the explosion of user generated content in the media, to the extent that this year was perhaps the first time the 'mainstream' was diverted by the punters, or, that the elite strangle hold on information dissemination was finally released by the democratisation of the internet.
Hoorah for that! December 10 Bienvenue France 24!France 24 hits the world airwaves this week - a new channel to keep the French world up there with BBC News 24 and Fox and CNN, and even Al-Jazeera I suppose now.!
It's all a bit superfluous to me, as I already read La Monde on a regular basis, being a Francophone, and I've got rid of my television in favour of the internet, so that I can at least control the content I am subjecting myself to.

:He resigned, Bush has accepted his resignation, and the Whitehouse has 'bowed down' to political reality heheh. I love these Euphamisms - it's just a shame its the BBC using them. Bolton got the boot he deserved. December 02 GM - Frankenstein FoodsWell, today we were having GM foods rammed down out throats on the news. No doubt somewhere some rich company has influence over the BBC editorial line, because they were treating the news that the UK government has approved the testing of two fields of GM pototoes as some sort of victory for I don't know who.
In fact these foods should really be called Genetically Distorted foods, because they are not the product of tried and tested evolution, but the product of the brutal manipulation of DNA by scientists who don't really know what is going to happen next (hence the need to test the foods). The other reason to grow them in the UK is to try and habituate people to the existence of these frankenstein foods - so that we just go along with this genetic control over out food supplies.

The electronic presses start turning today on the "Media Internet Journal for Awareness of International Information" ,
Yes, its a handful of a title, but the acronym is a bit more catchy - it's a contraction of Media Eye - an Internet Watchdog, and accurately describes what will be covered in this ijournal.
It's going to be a catch-all forum for views on the news, and in particular, will be used to flag up propaganda in the daily news as it happes.
This sort of service is needed more and more in the modern world, where a democracy is only as good as the information it has at its fingertips.
